A New Dress Dummy.

Yes, the time has come. Wonky Jane is finally going.  She's seen a lot of years of work - she had been very busy before I purchased her second hand.  She is adjustable, but just doesn't really want to adjust back so much anymore.  I understand.  Sometimes I am a little like that as well.

So, sadly, the time has come to part.

As you can see from the photo above, she is a little crooked - as I mentioned in posts sometimes, if my garments looked crooked, it was because of Wonky Jane.

My birthday is in August, and finally my present arrived - a little late as I was waiting for the order to come in.  Thank you DH.

It's waiting to be unpacked, and I have just got in from work. So you know what I am going to do this evening...put my new adjustable dummy together. She is nice and small around the hips - Wonky Jane was always too large in the hips for me.

I wonder what I should call her. If you have a dummy, do you name yours?

Bye for now

Sarah Liz

  1. Poor wonky Jane - she has lived a long and useful life (but just doesn't really want to adjust back so much anymore. I understand. Sometimes I am a little like that as well LOL)

I hope Jane feels like she is going into retirement rather than being passed over for a younger newer model... sniff sniff.

Seriously though - isn't it nice to get a nice new gift. Happy belated birthday. I am sure un-christened newbie will give you a great deal of assistance.

  2. How exciting, and happy belated birthday.

My dress form is called Rosie, as she is patterned with tiny pink rose-like flowers. Not very original I know!

  3. Lucky you, a nice new dress form. I don't have one, unfortunately, but if I did she would be called Myrtle, which is what my brother-in-law calls me. :-)

    1. That should throw your brother-in-law nicely off the trail! I didn't have a dummy for years, and my first was the second hand Wonky Jane.

  7. Happy Belated Birthday..
Wonky Jane has served you and others well.. So ...now it's time for
Miss New to start her job and let Wonky Jane retire.ha.

Mine is named Mary Christmas [Not Merry]. One of my blog friends named her that, because -- during the time I got her, I had found a lot of vintage fabrics, accessories at a yard sale, and I had just came from a big fabric shopping spree. Anyway, my post was titled something like, "Christmas in July". Then the next post was, [when I got my mannequin for my birthday].. So, my friend suggested Mary Christmas.. So that is where Mary Christmas got her name.lol
So happy for you.. Know you are excited.. Can't wait to see her in action.

    1. I think Wonky Jane will probably do a little more work in her retirement, she is going to a thrift shop. Isn't it interesting how we choose names for things, I like your story.

    1. It is a nice gift - some people name dress forms and some don't. Vivian is an interesting name, thinking of Vivian Leigh here. She is about the right size!
