Make a Garment a Month Challenge, This Weeks News, 16 November 2013

Hi everyone,

This has been quite a week for me - and maybe for all of you as well.  I won't talk about life matters here, because this space is reserved for the Make a Garment a Month Challenge.  But when life gets hectic, it does remind me why I thought about making a commitment to this challenge.  It's all too easy to let go of sewing when life gets mad.  I think we owe it to ourselves to make sure we spend 15 minutes a day on our sewing selves, especially when life is demanding.  Just to restore the batteries.

This week more people are joining the challenge:

Ista: www.costumesfromashoebox.blogspot.com

Adele: http://retrospectivedress.blogspot.com

Both these ladies have interesting approaches to sewing and sewing matters,  so please go and check out their blogs - and each others :)

Jackie and Ingrid would also like to join.  Would you please email me a picture of your completed garment please - email stylishsarah251@gmail.com

AND FANTASTIC NEWS:

4 (four)!! of you have finished your November garment.  I'll post these next week on 22/11/13.

ONE MORE GARMENT HAS COME IN FOR OCTOBER:

Leonie: www.sewleonie.blogspot.com

Leoine has made a linen skirt from her Surefit drafting system.  Please go to Leonie's blog to find out more...

PLANS FOR NOVEMBER

Patty: www.sewmuchknitting.blogspot.com

Patty is going to make up one of her UFO's - for more details, visit her blog...

Hana: www.velvetribbonsew.blogspot.com

Hana is planning to make a  paneled jersey shirt from  Burdastyle 10/2013:

Hana would like everyone to wish her luck with this project, so I do encourage you to go over and post a comment :)

Karen:  www.sewsirius1.wordpress.com -

Karen has sensibly assessed her wardrobe needs and is making another pair of pants:

Details can be found on Karen's blog...

Sherry is new to blogging and is going to make up a Jalie Jeans pattern (2908).

I think Sherry would love you to visit her blog and encourage her with this project - you all know how challenging making jeans can be...

Lisa is attempting to make a co-ordinated mini capsule each month.  A great idea Lisa, and I hope you succeed - there is nothing worse than a closet full of orphans :)

She plans to make a pair of Simplicity trousers and a New Look Top out of these fabrics:

And a nice poncho:

Lisa has written a great post on her plans, and has other interesting things on her blog, so do pay a visit to find out more...

Accordion has plans to make a pair of pants from Simplicity 1667 - not quite a TNT yet, but she's working on it...

She is planning to use a blue grey fabric- don't you love the way cats find fabric so appealing?

I think Coco originally had plans for a coat, but she has also posted this little t-shirt - a Vogue pattern.

She can give you more details on her blog.  Coco's sewing posts are always most informative.

Mina is planning to make up this gorgeous little knit top (McCalls M6844) - this will look stunning Mina.

Mina sews some lovely garments so do go and say hi.

Sharon is needing new tops and has pulled out a TNT pattern that she alters to fit.  Full details are on Sharon's blog, along with links to pictures of previous lovely versions of this top.

Well, that's this weeks line up of plans.  Last week I posted November plans as well - if you missed that post, or want a recap please go here: http://sarahlizsewstyle.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/make-garment-month-challenge-update-9th.html

I think I have earned a rest now, so I will wish you all a good day/evening, wherever you are....

Sarah Liz
