Just a Blog Post - Thank you for your Replies - What's Coming Up on SarahLizSewStyle

Hello to all my Sewing Friends in Sewing Blog Land,

I promise I will get back to pictures and sewing content next week.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your comments.  Life has been busy here (what's new) and some exciting things to share with you are in the pipeline.

First though, I am really glad there is an audience for sewing blogs still.  I myself prefer more detail and often look up a pattern on a blog to see more detail, if I find a post on Instagram.  It seems a lot of you prefer more details as well.

Going through your comments, a few themes emerge:

With pandemic or age related life style changes many of you do not know what to sew or have stopped sewing.

Instagram does not allow much in the way of sewing detail so some of you read blogs because you like more detail and information - in other words actual sewing content, along with time to read them because you can find them over time.

Pattern reviews, along with  information about the pattern, fabric use, techniques and instructions, along with a picture of the finished garment, front, back, sides but not lots of repetitive photos.

Absolutely anything sewing related!

Snippets, fragments , musings and reflection of daily or wider life events.

The sewing friendships that we share - and some of you just like reading my blog!

And a a new blog follower liked my cheeky, upbeat little image - while I am indeed a serious person, I do not take myself seriously - life is far too short and if today isn't such a great day, tomorrow's just around the corner.

A lot is going on in life behind the scenes.  It does include sewing, as I am finding a bit more time to sew.

I still work for my husband and have a lot of catching up to do with the accounts and accounting side of the practice.  I stopped blogging two to three years ago, as we had so much on our plate with the practice.  I won't bore you with the in's and out's but I can do a lot of this from home now as we now have what I need online.  That was hard work to set up for both of us as well.  Things that look like they just happen, seldom do.

On my sewing plate at the moment I have a shirt dress cut out, a sports bra hack/test cut out, a machine pieced log cabin based quilt that I have started, some hand quilting that I have started, a sewing course that I am supposed to have started, and all sorts of other sewing/fashion related news. I also have a pile of new patterns to try in the next few weeks (well, more realistically, months or years...).  I think I have started the first two rows of a jumper that was supposed to be a gift for my husband's birthday a few months ago.  Time flies, but he will get it one day.  He understands that we have had a lot on our plate!

I am also about to start writing my life history but I think I need to get some practice work out of the way first.  I've done a pile of research about my late father's era (he was one of those bright young men behind the scenes in aeroengine and aeroplane manufacture in Britain  during WW2 and the Cold War). The family migrated to Australia in the 1960's.  There is a story there as well.

The house is a mess (still) and still needs work on it.

I pattern test lingerie still and am testing a nice hi-cut panty next week.

AND: I am becoming a Brand Ambassador for an Independent Pattern Company starting in August. More details as I get them.

AND: For those of you that have lost your sewing/style ways, I'll talk about that as well.

I will start blogging regularly.  Because I am easing back in, I think I will just start with a diary/journal blog.  I want to change how I have been doing things and recreate this blog so it includes all the themes that emerged in your comments.

I think I am also either very optimistic with my plans or outright delusional :).

Still, you  have to start Somewhere...

It's good to be back with you all,

That's it for now, see you all next week,

Take care,

Sarah Liz

I'm not sewing as I'm in temporary accom between house moves (with stuff in storage) but still nice to read about it.

  2. So glad that you are coming back! Thank you. I love reading sewing blogs and can't wait to see your latest.

  3. Really looking forward to reading all the exciting things happening in the future here on your blog Sarah Liz!

  4. Wow as usual I’m not sure how you do it all but the sewing, quiliting and being a pattern ambassador all sounds very interesting and can’t wait to read it all. Very happy for realistic posts, life is here to enjoy.
